CLEVELAND, Tenn. (Sept. 30, 2008)—In today’s environment of economic uncertainty and increased competition, a company’s ability to recruit and retain a high-performing team should be a top priority. “After all, financial and quality outcomes are dependent upon the quality and competence of a company’s workforce,” Allison Pierce says. Pierce will address this timely topic in a session titled “Recruiting and Retaining a High-Performing Team” on Monday, Oct. 20, during an 11:30 a.m. luncheon at the Cleveland/Bradley Chamber of Commerce. The session presents the five systems that are vital in attaining and maximizing the potential of a workforce, top to bottom, and across all categories of employees. Participants will learn how to implement these systems while saving time and expenses. In addition, the speaker will examine how companies like GE, Disney and Southwest Airlines recruit and retain highly motivated and competent employees. Participants will take away easy-to-follow solutions to address day-to-day workforce issues. Allison Pierce is the president of Resource Development Systems Inc., a management-consulting firm serving both international and domestic clients. With more than 20 years’ experience in labor policy and practices, she has been involved with labor restructuring strategies to save companies significant money and time. Recently, she headed a labor subcommittee to address national labor issues with direct reporting to the U.S. Department of Labor. In addition to designing and implementing labor systems, she is a certified instructor for the FranklinCovey organization in Salt Lake City, Utah. “The influx of new business and industry to our region makes it necessary to pay attention to employee retention,” Lisa Pickel, director of existing industry programs, said. “Allison’s experience and insight will make this a valuable tool for those who will be impacted by changes we will face in the months to come when Volkswagen of America and its first- and second-tier suppliers begin operation.” The session is offered as part of the Quality Council programming of the Chamber of Commerce. Quality Council is open to all individuals interested in promoting quality within their organization. Cost for the luncheon is $15.
