CLEVELAND, Tenn. (Aug. 4, 2008)—The Cleveland/Bradley Chamber of Commerce continues its efforts to partner local businesses with schools in the community. During a recent presentation, Sky Angel/Dominion Video Satellite Inc. partnered with Tennessee Christian Preparatory School as part of the Chamber’s BEST program. “BEST is the acronym for Business and Education Serving Together,” Sherry Crye, director of workforce development, explained. “Our BEST program brings together the efforts of a business and a selected school to strengthen the educational process but to also give to the business. The relationship involves a commitment of time, energy and expertise.” The purposes of the Chamber’s BEST program are to strengthen the quality of the educational process through the utilization of community resources, to foster better understanding between the business community and the schools, and to expand learning opportunities for everyone involved in the partnership effort. “Sky Angel is excited about being a part of Cleveland/Bradley County,” Clark Thompson, manager of the Cleveland Contact Center Operations, said recently. “We look forward to working with TCPS as a BEST partner, as well as making ourselves known in the Cleveland area as a company that has a desire to contribute to Cleveland/Bradley County’s continued success.” Thompson noted that the new partnership is a good fit for both. “Tennessee Christian Preparatory School and Sky Angel hold many of the same values that make this relationship one that will last for many years!” Plans for the partnership will begin with a back-to-school event this month for the coeducational, interdenominational school offering a college preparatory academy program for students in preschool 2-12th grade. “We are delighted to be part of the Chamber’s BEST program,” Dr. Bill Balzano, head master, said about the new partnership. “We are pleased to partner with the Sky Angel television network to share ideas, resources and commitment to the Cleveland/Bradley County community. This will be an exciting year for both TCPS and Sky Angel.” For information about the partnership program, call Sherry Crye, director of workforce development, at the Chamber. -30- |
